Marine Professionals at Work: Photography Competition 2023
Start 2023 by inspiring the next generation!
As we begin this new year, we want to encourage more of the next generation to consider a career in the marine sector. The IMarEST is launching a photography competition asking its members and other professionals in the marine sector to share a snapshot from their working life. The aim is to inspire the next generation to consider a career in the marine sector. With an estimated annual value of $2.5 trillion, the ‘blue economy’ is equivalent to the world’s 7th largest economy. The next generation will be leading the charge in tackling the myriad challenges associated with it, including food security, climate change and the energy transition, sea-level rise, autonomous ships, cybersecurity, and much more. We want your help in showing them just how exciting and challenging a job in the marine sector can be!
Whether you're an offshore wind specialist, deck officer, or pipeline engineer, showcase a moment from your day to help young people understand what your role involves. By sending in your pictures, you’ll have the chance to be featured in our series and the best entry will also WIN a £50 Amazon voucher!

Click. Take a picture of yourself working in the marine sector.

Caption. Write a caption that describes your work and/or some advice for those who are interested in following the same career.

Submit. Submit your photo, caption, name, job title and, if you wish, your organisation. Send your entries via email to [email protected] with the subject line 'Photography Competition'. Alternatively, post your submission on Instagram, remembering to tag us using @theimarest.
