Looking for new Co-Chair, HSE webinar planned for early 2024

The ORSIG Committee met on 21st November. At the meeting Alice Goward Brown advised that she needed to step back from her role as chair as she has taken additional responsibility in her day job. I would like to thank Alice for all that she has brought to the role as co-chair including; vision, enthusiasm, humour and knowledge, it has been a real pleasure working with Alice. Fortunately, Alice will remain as a committee member and continue to contribute to the SIG. We are now seeking a new co-chair, so please feel free to contact me ([email protected]) if you are interested in the role.

We welcomed Robin Stowell to the committee following engagement at the Meet the Committee in September. Robin is an HSE expert and will fill the void left by Panos Stavrakakis earlier in the year. Robin was immediately pressed into action and has volunteered to provide a webinar on HSE early next year. Robin will be attending the G+ Global Offshore Wind Health and Safety Organisation stakeholder meeting on 7 March 2024 and has offered to take questions/observations from ORSIG members to the meeting. Therefore, please feel free to submit to the following e-mail ([email protected])

The committee has been working on a careers guide to highlight the breadth of career opportunities in Offshore Renewables. We would be very interested to hear from anybody working in marine operations or vessel design/construction who might like to provide a case study. The case studies will be in a similar format to those developed by the Marine Mammals SIG.

The meeting looked forward to 2024 and the activities that might be undertaken. Further information on these will be provided as we take the ideas forward.

Dr Mark Calverley

Offshore Renewables Special Interest Group Chair
