University of Strathclyde, Student Presentation Competition
Four students were shortlisted from approximately 40 submissions based on their performance in both the poster and oral presentation assessments. The competition evaluated participants across several criteria, including presentation delivery, clarity, visual communication, technical rigour, methodology, project impact, and responses to questions from the judging panel and audience.
The shortlisted students presented their fourth-year projects to a panel of judges and attendees, demonstrating an exceptionally high standard of research, professionalism, and technical excellence.
The evaluation panel consisted of Andrew Gilchrist, Mark Sinclair, and Ibrahim Abdelaty, all members of the IMarEST Scottish Branch Committee.
The competition results were as follows:
🥇1st Prize – Mr Taylor Murdoch: “Methane Slip Control for Dual-Fuel Marine Engines”
🥈2nd Prize – Ms Ioanna Mermygkousi: “Hydrodynamic Effects of Biofouling on a Cylinder: A CFD Study with Experimental Verification”
🥉 3rd Prize – Mr Euan Hamilton: “Novel Design of a Floating Substructure for a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine Multi-Rotor System”
🏅 4th Prize – Mr Hardie Crawford: “An Interrogation of Probabilistic Inspection Scheduling for Floating Production Storage Offloading Vessels”
Congratulations to all the students for their excellent presentations and achievements.
