Show your employees clear paths to progression and success within your organisation by mapping career routes against levels of membership and professional registration offered by the IMarEST.
We can work with you to map the career stages your employees may follow against internationally-recognised standards laid out by the IMarEST. An IMarEST accredited career framework will motivate and help accelerate individuals to a higher professional standing.
We support individuals throughout this process, providing guidance and continuous professional development opportunities. The framework would also support experiential learning, so those with experience but without relevant academic qualifications can still gain professional registration (e.g. Chartered Marine Engineer/Technologist/Scientist).
The IMarEST recognised the exceptional training provided to the Royal Navy’s marine engineer officers and ratings. The Institute therefore worked together with the Royal Navy to map the different stages of training and qualifications to different levels of IMarEST membership and professional registration (e.g. Chartered Engineer), thereby developing a defined career route where engineers who achieved specific naval ranks could then attain the corresponding membership grade and the professional registration for that level.
This meant that officers and ratings only needed to complete a short application form and interview to gain membership and registration, as their completed training was proof enough of their eligibility, competence and knowledge.
“The UK Royal Navy is dedicated to the training, professional development and advancement of its engineers and technicians. As the only membership body dedicated specifically to marine and naval engineers, scientists and technologists, the IMarEST is the ideal Institute for membership. Its varied Special Interest Groups offer forums to discuss the latest technologies and the intersections between disciplines. The defined route is an excellent way for Royal Navy officers and ratings to become part of a global network of marine engineers.”
