Our funding programme is designed to nurture marine engineering, science and technology talent, support academic research projects and reward academic achievement. IMarEST Members can apply for bursaries and grants to conduct research, attend conferences or gain experience.
With nominations by IMarEST members on behalf of the global marine sector, our awards programme recognises excellence and outstanding contribution in marine engineering, science and technology. This includes awards for outstanding contribution in marine safety, sustainability, education and professional development.
Branch activities and networking
As a member of the IMarEST, you are supported by a growing global network of branches, which make continuing professional development (CPD) activities accessible to members around the world. These include technical lectures, conferences, meetings, technical visits and networking events. You’ll have the opportunity to develop links with other members and organisations, and to share your own knowledge, as well as learning from others to help you develop your career.
If you find there isn't an IMarEST branch in you area, don't worry. We provide all members with the opportunity to network and collaborate with each other online via "Nexus", our online members network, and you are also able to join and participate in live-streams of IMarEST lectures and watch recordings of branch lectures on demand via IMarEST TV.

Join and participate in Special Interest Groups
Join and participate in the IMarEST's Special Interest Groups - voluntary groups which operate to the benefit of a specialist field. SIGs are governed by a committee of members but all members are encouraged to participate.
SIGs allow members to discuss technical topics and to address conflicts and synergies within sectors. SIGs are designed to advance the expertise and status of members working in the field, and to provide help and advice for those looking to expand their knowledge of the subject.
SIGs contribute to developing conferences, seminars and other events related to specialist issues, they produce information and position papers on related topics and they provide impartial, timely and technically sound information to governments and Intergovernmental Organisations.

The Virtual Library is an online collection of knowledge resources available exclusively to IMarEST Members.
You will have access to a searchable, evolving digital archive of full-text content unlocking over 120 years of IMarEST published material online.

We provide members with the opportunity submit their research for publication, either as short technical articles, or as full submissions to our technical journals. All submissions are peer-reviewed, providing you with the opportunity to have your research reviewed by experts.
