Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I start a Student Section?

Broaden your knowledge

Creating and running an IMarEST Student Section is a great way to develop your knowledge of the marine industry by working with your local branch, meaning you can run networking events and meet prospective employers.

Gain valuable skills for your CV

Student Committees are responsible for designing their webpages, administering finances and arranging events, providing you with additional skills to go with your academic qualifications.

Expand your network

Meet other students and early career professionals in the marine sector - as well as employers through events - to develop relationships that will support you throughout your career.

How do I start a Student Section?

Students, apprentices or cadets interested in starting a new Student Section, or wanting to partner a pre-existing organisation/university society with the IMarEST as a Student Section can download our Student Section Guide:
