About the speaker:
Professor David Manley is the current MOD Professor of Naval Architecture at University College London, lecturing to the Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering MSc courses and the Submarine Design and Acquisition Course. He also holds the position of MOD Deputy Technical Discipline Lead of Naval Architecture, is a Senior Fellow for Maritime Vulnerability Reduction, and Head of Specialism for Platform Survivability.

Join us as David explores how wargaming can be deployed as an explorative tool to develop Naval Concepts, identify capability gaps, support trade-off anaylses, engage stakeholders, concept of operations development, and support the generation of both fleet and vessel requirements.
In these roles, David supports the UK’s maritime enterprise in ship and submarine survivability, contributing to and engaging with all naval ship, submarine, and weapon projects.
His professional background includes over 30 years of experience in UK naval safety and survivability, where he has played a key role in developing the UK’s maritime survivability strategy, combat safety, and naval mission modularity. He has also supported survivability advancements through participation in a wide range of international research groups and defence forums.
David is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects and holds the rank of Constructor Captain in the Royal Corps of Naval Constructors.
