The maritime sector has a particular challenge in attracting and retaining sufficient numbers of suitably qualified and motivated personnel to meet its needs; and those needs are changing as a direct consequence of the technological revolution that shipping is experiencing, along with the new generational requirements and expectations of potential new recruits.
Ensuring that workers at sea are treated fairly and are healthy, trained, entertained and able to enjoy contact with friends and family during prolonged periods at sea is an existential requirement for the industry to address if it is to prosper.
