Alina Prylipko

Alina is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Manager for the sustainable Maritime Operations portfolio of programmes at MLA College.
Alina holds an LLM in International Law and an MSc in Maritime Education and Training. She is currently enrolled in a PhD program at the World Maritime University (Malmö, Sweden). Her expertise lies in the areas of international maritime law, maritime labour and social governance, and sustainable maritime development. Alina’s current research is dedicated to the social pillar of sustainable maritime development, stakeholders’ relationships, and the role of seafarers in transitioning towards a more sustainable shipping industry.
She has previously worked with both cadet education and postgraduate programmes and has extensive teaching experience in both national and international contexts. She is experienced in developing educational and training programmes and serves as an external advisor and examiner for a few reputable institutions internationally.
Alina is proudly Ukrainian, and her professional career includes positions in key maritime governmental agencies, such as the Maritime Administration of Ukraine. She has also been involved in consultancy on legal, environmental, and social issues related to various aspects of sustainable development.
A working mother, her husband is an ex-seafarer, which allows her to appreciate the wider social context of a maritime career and lifestyle, as well as the challenges faced by students in professional education.
