After serving his time, he worked for the IOMSPC as a fitter turner in the companies’ workshops in Fort Street Douglas, as well as a third engineer during the summer seasons 1988 & 1989.

In 1990 he joined Cunard Cruise line (now known as Carnival UK) as a junior fifth engineer, quickly passing through the ranks to Chief Engineer.

He has worked for all brands and on numerous different classes of ship owned and operated by them during his 35-year career with them as well as working in different offices around the world.

He is the only Manxman to sail on 4 Cunard Queens as Chief Engineer. His last 5 years of his career were on Queen Mary 2, at one time the largest ocean liner built and still the fastest.

Andrew is also a member of the British Titanic society.
