The Cyprus branch of IMarEST is based in Limassol which is the heart of maritime business in Cyprus.
Although small, the branch is very active, organising an average of eight topical technical presentations each year which are well supported. Regular social events are also arranged cumulating with our celebrated Dinner Dance weekend at the end of October which provides both formal and informal entertainment plus our annual golf tournament.
If you are interested in joining our branch, giving a technical presentation or wish to participate at any of our events please contact a member of the branch committee.
Cyprus is an island nestling at the north eastern corner of the Mediterranean Sea. Following the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974 the island remains divided with the north part still occupied. This has not stopped the independent Republic of Cyprus developing into a modern international hub for business and commerce and a leading maritime centre.
It is considered to be the largest third party ship-management centre within the EU and one of the largest in the world. Cyprus accounts for the management of some 4% of world tonnage. The maritime community is predominately based in Limassol where the majority of the shipping companies, maritime organisations and related government departments are located. This sunny island is a great place for work and play.
