Being an Associate

If you’re in the early stages of your marine career, or currently developing more responsibility, you can gain the professional recognition to help you progress further and put you on the path to professional registration (such as becoming Chartered).

It demonstrates an early commitment to your career and shows that you want to be as involved as possible in the marine sector.

Eligibility

To become an Associate Member, you will usually have worked or studied in the marine sector for at least three years and have shown a commitment to continued professional development.

You will be eligible if you are a graduate, a technician, have completed a cadetship or apprenticeship or have an occupational role in the marine sector. 

Career Development Pathway

If you are a recent graduate, you may be eligible for our Career Development Pathway which includes Associate Membership for a discounted rate for up to five years following your graduation or completion of cadetship or apprenticeship.
