Overview
Our Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are wide-ranging and cover the breadth of marine engineering, science and technology.
Each SIG is led by a committee, which is responsible for, among other things, ensuring the group has tangible, deliverable outputs and encouraging membership growth of the group and the Institute.
SIG committee members come from within the SIG's wider membership. A wide range of SIGs exist, reflecting the depth of knowledge and scale of marine activity that IMarEST members are involved in. You can view the full list here.
What you'll be doing
SIG committee members are responsible for:
- Ensuring the SIG has tangible outputs which can be delivered
- Establishing workstreams,sub-groups or task forces as appropriate to deliver planned outputs
- Supporting and encouraging growth in membership via participation in the SIGs
- Overseeing and engaging with activity on the SIGs discussion channel on IMarEST Connect
A SIG's committee is expected to meet on a quarterly basis, whether in person or online. All SIG members are expected to abide by the IMarEST Rules of Professional Conduct.
