Empowering the Next Generation of Marine Cadets

A wave of motivation swept through the Bangladesh Marine Academy, Chattogram on 5 December as over 150 Cadets of the 59th Batch gathered for 'Sea Your Future'—a dynamic event jointly delivered by the IMarEST Bangladesh Branch and the Nautical Institute.
Filled with energy, guidance, and real-world insight, the session ignited fresh confidence in the next generation of marine professionals. From compelling presentations to heartfelt mentoring and the proud presentation of IMarEST coat-pins, the afternoon left Cadets encouraged, empowered, and firmly aligned with the global maritime community.
Around 150 Nautical & Marine Engineering Cadets of the 59th Batch (who are passing out on 13 Dec 2025 upon completion of the 1st & 2nd year of the 4-year bachelor's degree course) took part in the inspiring hour of guidance, encouragement, and professional insight.
The session was graciously hosted by the Commandant Marine Engineer Muhammad Manjurul Kabir (27E), Chief Engineer Atiqur Rahman (24E), Engineer Instructor Atiqur Rahman Chowdhury (32E), and Senior Education Officer M Anowarul Islam—each adding warmth and strength to the programme.
Presentations from Capt. M Abdul Malek (Chairman, NI Bangladesh Branch), MarEngr. Arifuzzaman (Former Hon. Secretary, IMarEST Bangladesh Branch) and Sajid Hussain CEng (Chairman, IMarEST Bangladesh Branch) walked the Cadets through the realities and opportunities that lie ahead as they prepare to step into the maritime profession.
The Branch Chairman, Sajid, specifically highlighted the importance of cultivating professionalism from day one, reminding the Cadets that consistency, integrity, and curiosity are the pillars of a successful maritime career. He encouraged them to embrace every challenge as a stepping-stone and to carry forward the proud legacy of the Academy with confidence and purpose.
The Commandant’s concluding remarks brought the event to a powerful close, reminding the young Cadets that perseverance, discipline, and curiosity will carry them far as they enter this transformative phase of their journey.
The Cadets left the hall visibly inspired—reassured that they are not alone as they move from campus to ocean. IMarEST coat-pins were proudly awarded to 12 distinguished Cadets (Student Members of IMarEST, and a Mentee under theM2M Mentoring Programme).
With the Nautical Institute and the IMarEST pledging life-long mentoring, they now know that a global community stands behind them, ready to support their growth, celebrate their achievements, and guide them through the waves ahead.
The future of marine engineering is bright, and these young professionals are ready to embrace it with courage and confidence to highlight their earned brilliance in this Maritime Motherland – Bangladesh Marine Academy!
