The IMarEST holds formal recognition across a range of intergovernmental organisations, including non-governmental organisation with consultative status at the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
Members are central to our work. They are involved in providing informed and expert views in response to consultations and calls for evidence for the development of national, regional and international regulation. They also represent us by sitting on committees and joining IMarEST delegations at intergovernmental organisations and standards bodies, such as the UN's International Maritime Organization (IMO). Our international representation is supported by the activities of our divisions and branches located across the globe.
Join a Special Interest Group
To become an IMO delegate and get involved in developing regulations and standards, you will need to join a Special Interest Group (SIG).
Becoming an IMarEST volunteer at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) puts you at the heart of maritime policy. You gain first access to the information and insight about how this sector is about to be transformed. It’s also great to meet the other people who are thinking from that perspective.
