IMarEST Council Seeks Members to Shape our Industry
Are you passionate about advancing the marine sector and supporting professionals across the globe? If so, now is your chance to make a meaningful contribution as nominations are officially open for the IMarEST Council.
Council Members are an indispensable part of the IMarEST, ensuring that members’ views are heard and reflected in the Institute’s activities. They are also key to ensuring we continue to drive professional standards and represent our industry on a global stage.
This year, we are seeking representatives from three regions: one seat for Australia and New Zealand; two seats for Asia and the Pacific; and six seats for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Jo Lewis, engagement director at the IMarEST, said: “Our council members are a hugely valued and respected part of our community. Not only do they provide strategic oversight and expert advice, but their work covers the professional, technical, and learned society affairs of the Institute. We simply couldn’t operate without them acting as a vital link between members, branches, divisions, and the governance structures that support our global community.
“The Council also divides itself into dedicated working groups, each focused on a specific area of the Institute’s work. Whether it’s technical oversight, membership growth, or maintaining professional standards, there’s a place for every Council Member to contribute.”
Council Members commit to a three-year term and are expected to attend and prepare for quarterly meetings. To be eligible, nominees must be of Associate, Member, or Fellow grade, and be nominated by two members. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to the values and objectives of IMarEST, possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, and be ready to engage with diverse perspectives across our international membership.
So, if you’re ready to dedicate your time and energy to shaping the future of the marine profession, we encourage you to apply. Your expertise and enthusiasm could make a lasting difference.
