This is the first lecture for our 2025/26 season and a very important subject for how we move the dial forward on our journey to a better future for shipping of every trade.
Electric power and propulsion systems are one of the biggest enablers of vessel capability and energy efficiency. The ability to adapt electric ship system selection and configuration for different ship types and requirements helps to optimise vessel performance.
The decision about whether a vessel uses an all electric system or a hybrid electric, or indeed other form of propulsion, depends on multiple parameters and all requirements are of equal importance.
Over twenty years or more experts have invested considerable resources developing technologies and design practices, collaborating with shipowners, designers and naval architects for a fully integrated or hybrid power and propulsion systems to make full use of their advantages.
The talk will cover all areas of the technology and experience.
