The IMarEST supports the professional development of seafarers by recognising IMO Whitelisted Unlimited Certificates of Competency (III/2 & II/2) as meeting the academic base requirements for Chartered registration.
CANDIDATES MUST ALSO DEMONSTRATE EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING to Master/Bachelor level knowledge and understanding, such as:
- Level of experience and technical responsibility
- Engineering knowledge underpinning the A&B UK-SPEC competencies
- Appropriate theoretical and practical methods of analysing and solving technical problems
All seafarers holding Chief Engineer III/2 and Master II/2 unlimited certificates may join the Institute at the grade of Member (MIMarEST).
