Multiple Pathways to Decarbonization

We are delighted to share a recap of our recent technical talk, "Multiple Pathways to Decarbonization", held on 19 March 2025.

This event, coorganized by the Joint Branch of RINA and IMarEST (Singapore), the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers Singapore (SNAMES), and the Singapore Shipping Association (SSA), provided valuable insights into the role of biofuels in achieving maritime decarbonization goals.

The webinar explored how biofuels can serve as a short-term solution to reduce carbon emissions in the shipping industry, addressing technological readiness and adoption challenges.

Rajesh Madhavan (Alfa Laval) shared his expertise on sustainability solutions and decarbonization strategies, drawing from his 16 years of experience in the maritime sector. Franciska Kjellström (Alfa Laval) discussed fuel treatment solutions and her contributions to industry standards, including the ISO 8217:2024 specification.

Biofuels offer a viable pathway to meet immediate decarbonization targets while longer-term solutions are developed. Collaboration between industry stakeholders is critical to overcoming adoption challenges and ensuring compliance with evolving regulations.

The online event attracted participants from across the industry, fostering engaging discussions on alternative fuels and energy-saving technologies.

Stay tuned for more upcoming events and initiatives as we continue to drive conversations on sustainability and technological advancements.
