SIGs are member-led communities that bring together professionals with shared interests and expertise.
SIGs provide members with an opportunity to engage with issues beyond their immediate professional role, offering a forum to discuss emerging challenges, and identify areas where the Institute can contribute to industry debates. The IMarEST holds consultative status at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) where SIGs can draw on their specialist expertise to examine proposals, highlight practical implications and identify emerging evidence.
