Ocean Governance

  • Overview

From geopolitics, ocean pollution to seabed resource extraction, ocean governance is becoming ever more complex. There are a multitude of legislative policies and drivers which vary from country to country and region to region in their interpretation and implementation, leading to significant transboundary issues.

This group brings together expertise to raise awareness and encourage the development of practical solutions to facilitate and assist improvements in sustainable development of the oceans. The group assesses whether legislation is fit for purpose, and where there is scope for improvement, offers impartial, technically informed advice for bringing this about, driving engagement between regulators, policymakers, academics, and regulatory scientists.
